Art Care

A few simple care tips can help keep your artwork in good condition over time.

Placement

Where an artwork is displayed plays an important role in preserving it.

  • Avoid direct sunlight or strong artificial light, as prolonged exposure may gradually affect colours.
  • Do not hang artworks on damp walls or surfaces affected by moisture.
  • Avoid placing artworks in bathrooms, kitchens, or areas regularly exposed to humidity, steam, or grease.
  • Display artworks in a stable indoor environment.

Cleaning

Most artworks require only light and occasional cleaning.

  • Dust the artwork and frame gently using a soft microfiber cloth or feather duster.
  • Do not use water, cleaning sprays, or solvents on the painted surface.
  • Avoid rubbing or applying pressure while cleaning.

Oil Paintings

In humid climates, particularly during the monsoon, ensure the room is well ventilated. Oil paintings should occasionally be taken down to allow the back of the canvas to air, which helps prevent moisture build-up.

Works on Paper

Artworks on paper (such as drawings, prints, or watercolours) should be displayed in dry indoor spaces and kept away from moisture. If signs of mould appear, the artwork should be examined by a professional who can safely remove the glass and clean it.

If Damage Occurs

If an artwork is accidentally damaged, do not attempt to repair it yourself. Please reach out to us or a qualified professional who can advise on the appropriate next steps.
