Dhruti Mahajan’s practice is centred on a meticulous engagement with paper, using processes of cutting, shaping, layering, and pinpricking to build rhythmic, tactile compositions. What may initially appear minimal gradually reveals depth, shadow, and subtle shifts as the eye moves across the surface. In some works, she works exclusively with pinpricks on white paper, creating quiet, meditative patterns through repetition, while in others, hand-cut and layered elements introduce a sense of depth and structure within the composition. A restrained palette, punctuated by subtle accents of colour, keeps the focus on form, rhythm, and structure.
Rooted in an introspective approach, Mahajan uses repetition to reflect the small routines and cycles that shape everyday life. Circular and linear motifs recur throughout her compositions, creating a sense of order without rigidity. Her works invite viewers to slow down, notice fine details, and engage with the work through stillness and close observation, creating a moment of quiet pause.
